Safety & Privacy

Learn how Bromo keeps you safe and protects your data.

Your privacy is a core priority. We never share your exact location — only distance buckets like "Nearby" are shown. Your email is never visible to other users. All communications are encrypted. You have full control over who can message you and send you media. You can block any user instantly, and blocked users cannot see your profile or interact with you in any way.

No. Bromo never shares your exact location with other users. We only display approximate distance indicators like "Nearby," "1 km away," or "5 km away" using distance buckets. Your precise GPS coordinates are never exposed to other users. Location data is used server-side only to calculate these approximate distances.

Open the user's profile and tap the menu icon (three dots) in the top right. Select "Report" and choose the reason for your report. You can add additional details to help our moderation team. Reports are reviewed promptly and the reported user will not know who reported them.

Open the user's profile and tap the menu icon (three dots) in the top right. Select "Block." The blocked user will immediately be unable to see your profile, message you, or interact with you in any way. They will not be notified that they've been blocked. You can manage your block list in Profile > Settings > Blocked Users.

When you submit a report, our moderation team reviews it promptly. Depending on the severity and nature of the violation, actions can include a warning, temporary suspension, or permanent ban. The reported user is never told who reported them. Serious violations (harassment, underage users, threats) are escalated immediately.

Every photo uploaded to Bromo — whether profile photos, album photos, or chat photos — goes through automated AI moderation and may also be reviewed by our human moderation team. Photos that violate our Community Guidelines (e.g., nudity in profile photos, illegal content, or images of minors) are rejected. You'll be notified if a photo is removed.

Yes. All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using industry-standard TLS encryption. Your password is hashed and salted — we never store it in plain text. Chat messages are encrypted in transit. We follow best practices for data storage and security.

Bromo uses a strike system to enforce Community Guidelines. Violations result in strikes on your account. Minor violations may result in a warning. Accumulating strikes can lead to temporary suspension or permanent ban depending on the severity. Serious violations like harassment, hate speech, or illegal activity can result in an immediate permanent ban without prior warnings.
